Gstaad or St. Moritz: Which Swiss Winter Base Fits You?
Both define ultra-luxury Swiss winter travel. Yet their altitudes, architectural souls, social rhythms, and transit logistics could not be more different.

6 NIGHTS · St. Moritz
The Engadin winter calendar, experienced from a single grand-hotel base.
CUSTOMIZE JOURNEYSt. Moritz is often approached as a ski destination. This journey is built around a broader idea: winter here has its own rhythm, shaped as much by the village, the frozen lake and the Engadin calendar as by time on the mountain.
Six nights in a single grand-hotel base allow that rhythm to emerge without interruption. Corviglia provides the active centre of the journey, while the quieter landscapes beyond St. Moritz introduce a different pace — one that is just as important to understanding the Engadin in winter.
The schedule deliberately leaves room between the fixed elements. Mountain conditions, event dates and the character of a particular week all influence how St. Moritz is best experienced.
The result is not a ski programme with evenings added around it. It is a winter residency in which the mountain, the village and the social season are allowed to coexist naturally.

St. Moritz rewards a certain amount of restraint.
It is easy to fill every day with skiing, lunches, events and reservations. We prefer to leave some of the week deliberately open.
Winter conditions determine the quality of a mountain day more than a rigid sequence does. A clear morning may call for Corviglia; another day may be better spent lower in the valley, in the village, or moving at a slower pace altogether.
That flexibility also matters socially. The character of St. Moritz changes from week to week, particularly when the major events on the frozen lake are taking place.
Six nights create enough continuity for the journey to feel like a stay rather than a schedule. The aim is not to account for every hour, but to give the week enough structure that the best decisions can still be made in the moment.
St. Moritz · 6 Nights
Badrutt’s Palace is selected because this journey is as much about St. Moritz itself as it is about the mountain.
Its position in St. Moritz Dorf keeps the village, the lake and the wider winter calendar close at hand, allowing the transition between mountain days and evenings in town to remain simple.
For this particular journey, that centrality matters. The hotel serves as a consistent base across the week while keeping guests connected to the social and cultural life that distinguishes St. Moritz from a more isolated alpine resort stay.
Clients who place greater value on ski-in/ski-out access or a more removed atmosphere may ultimately be better suited to one of the journey’s alternative properties. The default, however, reflects the character of St. Moritz Winter Society: present within the resort rather than apart from it.
